Day 40 - and I really need it!

A FB post just reminded me of something that I am really grateful for—and I really need to be grateful right now because I am really angry about a work change of which I just learned.  I am feeling really pissed and helpless about a specific situation that was possibly not fully disclosed to me.  I don’t have all the info, and I haven’t talked to the decision makers, but it feels like a no-win scenario.  I feel really disappointed.  Then my lovely Aunt copied a post of mine and mentioned friendship and I came back to center and remembered to be grateful for all that IS RIGHT NOW!  The main item I am grateful for is friendship.  I have met a handful of authentic and kind people here and have begun to establish friendships with these awesome gals.  And I am doubly lucky because I also work with them!  It is so wonderful to have conversations with people that are REAL and have DEPTH and INTIMACY.  I value this so much...

...As a Highly Sensitive person, I crave authentic connection with hearts and souls.  I do not thrive on surface information, and actually I avoid casual, superficial acquaintances.  I don’t give a damn about the weather, politics, or where you work!  I want to know what you think about life, how you feel about love and pain, and how you evolve as a human.  I don’t have interest in gossipers, haters, or negative people.  So again, I feel blessed and grateful in meeting some great gals with whom I share some interests, and LOTS of laughter!  I am even more lucky that I have met these gals in China!  It can be lonely living abroad when you do not have a circle of close friends (or even one!) , or people with shared interests, or activity partners.  I am so grateful to these gals for opening up to me, sharing confidences, and making me feel safe in doing the same.  Trust is so important in friendship.  
And in the midst of feeling angry and then moving on, it’s important for me to remember all the aspects of this school and job and career that I love and appreciate!  I work for a great school!  I no longer come home emotionally and physically burned out every day.  I feel rejuvenated by both the kiddos and my work partners.  The days are interesting and enjoyable.  I truly like the people I with whom I work and I feel well-treated by the school leadership and my co-workers.  I work in a very positive environment, where a majority have positive attitudes and keep critical and negative talk to a minimum.  My school is a great place to work and I have a great team and I make good money.  I am grateful for all of this too!
