The above is sung to the beat of "Pop Muzak", in order to get the fullest flava!!!
Dressing of the Day is brought to you by "M":
"...New York, London, Paris , Munich, every body talk about Adzuki! Talk about adzuki!!!..."
In my wonderful Nutribullet, I Pureed:
1/4 c. Of adzuki beans (previously cooked and seasoned for another dish)
1/2 garlic clove (may be too much for some of you, but I LOVE me some garlicky savorialciousness!)
1 tsp. Lemon-infused EVOO
1/8 c. Whole almonds
1/2 whole navel orange, peeled silly!
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
cold water (enough to make it your preferred consistency)
Freakin' yum! Poured over arugula, carrots, mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes!
Protein in my dressing!
shoobeedoobeedooaaaah! Or whatever... :-)
Bon Appetit, Peeps!
Holla if you know that song!!!
I love beets: their color, earthy flavor, versatility.
I roasted a bunch of beets with cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, and whole cumin, s&p.
I sautéed a bunch of kale in water and a Tbsp of chili-infused EVOO, with more cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg, s&p.
Perfect to eat separately, but then, I wanted soup!
Pureed a cup of the beets with some water, then simmered with the kale, a bit of cottage cheese for protein (optional), and topped it all off with a dollop of yogurt (sour cream is great too!) and carrots for color.
Sooooo filling, nutritious, low-cal, and nourishing!
Great article on the health benefits of turmeric, and a nice recipe. I recommend buying fresh turmeric if you can; it's available at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Market, and HEB Central Market. Peel it just like you do ginger; slice and add to chai, smoothies, or make this delicious golden milk.
My golden milk is simply peeled fresh turmeric, grated and heated with milk/soymilk, and then I add honey.
Remember it is more bioavailable when cooked and taken with some fats (milk, soymilk, butter, etc.). Fresh turmeric in your curry will make it da'bomb baby!
If you use powdered turmeric, buy it from Frontier, or other spice providers that offer non-irradiated, organic spices. Once irradiated, you've zapped all the good stuff out of your spices (don't buy spices unless they clearly state non-irradiated!!!). Also, local and US-grown turmeric is what is sold at Trader Joe's!
Thanks to Natural Grocer's for this article!
I've been doing a lot of inner work the past few months--the past year, really--especially since I quit drinking 5 months ago. I also recently decided to remove sugar from my diet (refined sugar in processed foods, desserts, sweets; not honey in my morning chai or other healthy ways to receive sweetness, like fruit).
I made those decisions for health reasons, and had been trying to get off sugar...well, forever!! It's my go-to drug of choice for numbing, escape, distraction, energy, depression, etc. Alcohol is sugar and acts on the pancreas in an similar manner with insulin flooding and longer term insulin resistance, so I've been tinkering around with ending that habit as well...for several years now! There's just too much credible scientific data, from both Eastern and Western medicine, as well as Ayurvedic, holistic, and alternative health sources for me (or any of us) to deny the damage sugar and booze cause to our body--and of course to our American population!
I've been watching my Self this week... (Click read more, to the right)
