Great article on the health benefits of turmeric, and a nice recipe. I recommend buying fresh turmeric if you can; it's available at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Market, and HEB Central Market. Peel it just like you do ginger; slice and add to chai, smoothies, or make this delicious golden milk.
My golden milk is simply peeled fresh turmeric, grated and heated with milk/soymilk, and then I add honey. Remember it is more bioavailable when cooked and taken with some fats (milk, soymilk, butter, etc.). Fresh turmeric in your curry will make it da'bomb baby! If you use powdered turmeric, buy it from Frontier, or other spice providers that offer non-irradiated, organic spices. Once irradiated, you've zapped all the good stuff out of your spices (don't buy spices unless they clearly state non-irradiated!!!). Also, local and US-grown turmeric is what is sold at Trader Joe's!
