I've been hungry on and off most of the day, and it's driving me a bit crazy. I'm hungry to the point my stomach is growling and the discomfort is distracting! I just drink a big cup of warm lemon water of tea, but in a few hours.... growl! I am wondering if ingesting the small amount of calories (less than 200) is affecting my insulin levels to the point they are triggering hunger. Yet, that makes no sense, because the research shows that an extremely low carb diet (I'm not ingesting any or very few), stimulates ketosis and fat-burning. The cream for my coffee has no carbs, and caffeine is mild appetite suppressant anyway. The broth might have a few carbs, but not enough to affect insulin release (I hope!). I only use one small lemon wedge each day, with negligible calories and carbs. So what is creating this hunger on Day 5? I should not be hungry (I don't think!) this far into the fast. This afternoon I drank only one-half cup of coffee with 1 Tbsp. whipping cream, instead of the full cup I had yesterday. In consequence, I don't feel like such a hyped-up caffeine spaz. Tomorrow, I'll skip the afternoon coffee altogether. I'll also go back to 1 Tbsp. whipping cream mixed with 1/2 Tbsp. butter for my AM Joe. I wonder if I should just skip the broth altogether, too. I wish I had a scale, because that would tell the story more accurately. I can look in the mirror and see some results, but it's difficult to see day-by-day weight loss in a reflection. Oh, well! Hunger will not kill me and I'll keep on keeping on! Besides, tomorrow is Day 6, and that's almost a full week--whoo hoo! Only 16 more days! If I make it one week, I can definitely hang in for two more weeks! I can do it!
