Meat dinners for vegetarians

I met one of the gals from our foreign teacher group here in TY; it was like a first date---a blind date--that turned out miraculously well! LOL  We hit it off smashingly, clicking instantly.  The funny thing is, we had dinner at a meat restaurant, not knowing that both of us prefer veggies and seafood!
Another interesting note on Korea:  the "convenience stores" as we call them in the US, (here they are 7-11 and CU and referred to as "marts"), have sitting areas where you can drink or eat or hang with friends.  It felt unusual at first, to be sitting in a 7-11 gabbing for 20 minutes as we introduced ourselves.
We went to one of the ubiquitous meat grilling restaurants where you are served a pile of your choice of marinated pork and/or beef, the servers bring hot coals to set in the grill, and multifarious side dishes and salads and dips.  It's actually quite a delicious and filling meal, though my body still rebels to a degree at having to process meat.  On this accasion, the grill had a depressed ring about it, in which was poured an egg mixture and veggies, which cooked slowly as the meat cooked.  Yum!  and quite innovative!  Our waiter didn't approve of our "western" treatment of the meat, as we were busy gabbing and not flipping it and offering the precious meat its deserved attention. He came over and began cutting our meat for us and grilling and flipping it properly, Korean-style.  and of course, you cut the meat with scissors while it's grilling, not with a knife and fork on one's plate.  (What's a fork anyway?  lol)
It was a fun night, with a new friendship formed, ending at A Twosome Place for hot chocolate until midnight!  Yes, I seem to be staying up later now that I have friends!
