Oh how I wish I knew this stuff in my 20s or 30s, and How I wish I had been doing it for years! I've recently discovered "dry shampoos", ways to thicken my hair naturally, and the benefits of leaving the natural oils on my skin and scalp as they are- and using them to my benefit! I started using cornstarch instead of shampooing my hair every day or two, and I love it! I was using baking soda shampoo and apple cider vinegar/chamomile rinse, but my hair still felt very oily and icky and well, looked crappy; I'd still have to use regular shampoo each week or more frequently if I wanted to "let my hair down". My BFF had given me this awesome dry shampoo as a gift for my Bday, and I loved the results, but wanted something without chemicals and propellants (propane and alcohol being the main. Ingredients in most spray-type shampoo alternatives). It was great at sucking up the oil, but smelled like Aqua Net and I could just tell wasn't good for my hair, scalp, or the environment. I am so grateful, however, that she introduced me to shampoo alternatives! It inspired me toward research and creation of my own healthy alternative. I love the following recipe from Wellness Mama, and discovered I can just put it on with my fingers, work it through with fingers, and then brush and my hair looks full, shiny, and it's actually a shade or two lighter, miraculously --yay! http://wellnessmama.com/5047/dry-shampoo/ | |
