24 km around the island to the climbing wall and back through town. (2400 feet of elevation gain during this ride!)At "my" temple, I looked up by chance and saw a large statue of the Buddha on the hillside above the temple. This temple has no monk "in residence", like some temples, so it is overgrown and choked with weeds, but beautiful nonetheless, and my favorite quiet resting spot during my ride around the island. I can sit on the the temple steps undisturbed; only the sound of birds and buzzing of insects accompany my quiet moment of rest before I'm back to the sharp inclines of this mountain road. I ended up at the wall, but no one arrived until a few hours later. By then, I was pooped, had practiced some climbing maneuvers, and was ready to ride the 8 km home to rest! My reward for the 10 miles of pedaling around the long island road to the climbing wall (besides pushing myself further by climbing ha ha) is a delicious meal of fresh Mandu and JjinBbang to replenish energy for the ride back!
