I haven't firmly decided on Nepal for my Summer Trek, but I've narrowed it down to the Nepal Tea House Trek; the circuit and passes of Minyak Gongka in Kham; or north toward Aba, in the Ngawa Autonomous Prefecture.
My school contract ends in 81 days, on July 12, and my initial departure plan is one week later--I have approximately 3 months to train for a 4 week trek across somewhere in or near China! I thought about flying into to Nepal for our upcoming May Day Holiday, May 1-5, but think I might stick closer to Chengdu and save some RMB for a longer vaca in July-August. My new school begins on August 26, and I will be there for orientation the week prior, which gives me a 5-week break to pack and move to Guiyang, close up shop in Chengdu, and get in a 4-week-much-needed-vaca prior to the start of a new school year! I will create a much more detailed training plan, but will start simple: squats, push ups, situps, added to my current asana practice, along with starting to climb my stairs home once a day (I am on the 21st floor), walking daily 3, 0-60 minutes, and running 2x per week-- with one day off of course. That's the initial plan. I will post here every day about what I will do that day to help keep myself committed!
