I am so grateful to included in a workplace that encourages self-evolution and personal growth; not limited to professional growth and income increase. My Whole Person is acknowledged, and demanded, really. To be present, to be aware, to adjust, and to grow in experience, intellect, wisdom, and wellness in all areas is almost a requirement! As we help form these little beings, or rather, as we help their innate Self come forth, we also grow and evolve and change and allow our innate Selves to rise. I am grateful to work in an environment where I feel nurtured and supported; I can't think of one other place at which I have worked professionally that has offered this in their benefit package! Since my emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual well-being is encouraged, I have an built-in health plan in that I can care for myself while caring for my Little People. In truth, how can you serve others or care for others authentically until your needs have been met and you have cared for yourself?
Each day my gratitude and love grows, my patience and understanding expands, my self-awareness increases, and life gets better and better. I acknowledge as well that each day I become more attached to my work, my coworkers, my students (see the use of the word "my" repeated! Uh-Oh!). Each day, my desire to leave this city and move abroad diminishes a fraction more as my heart centers itself on my work. Certainly, there is much more to my life than my work, but it definitely rounds me out and offers a high sense of fulfillment and joy. And that imbues me with an overflowing sense of gratitude that I want to grasp and hang on to: I am paid a salary to self-actualize as I help others to do the same, and I love my work. This friends, is a great gift in life! I sit, astounded. Thank you, thank you, thank you! "Wow, I get paid to do this??"
It's hard to find gratitude on days when you don't feel well, or you're tired, or whatever the reason you're not feeling 100% – in your body, mind, heart, soul…
But then you know that is the most important day-- the most important time in life-- that you must find gratitude! And so you do. Today I am grateful for words, knowledge, the place where I choose to spend my days--some call it "work", people I love whom love me back, people I love that don't love me back, chai tea, I hated bed, the wonderful people I work with, apples, the freedom to sleep in when I needed, writing, and my desire to evolve and be a bright light in whatever way I can for others. Its a great day! Edith Wharton said, "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that receives it." I am grateful to be running again and the return of my Energy! I awoke before my alarm this morning, and I feel G-R-E-A-T! (Why do hyphens add loudness to that word??) I'm ready to run or do yoga and be upside down. It's a wonderfully cold day (because it's winter, and I want it to stay in a cold temperature range of 10 degrees, varying between 50-60 for two solid months, please!); it's a wonderful Monday when I am blessed to go be with my Lil Peeps and Big Peeps today; and good feelin' endorphins are running around my body amplifying all the happy-feeling-ness already circulating! I am grateful for a fantastic weekend filled with soul-quenching music, a date, a new breakfast restaurant, Korean cooking, digging in the dirt, and Ganesh origami! Dad and I met for brekkie at Star Seeds and it was a cute little diner experience. Good overall, though the music was blaring too loud. Sunday I spent avoiding studying by replanting several of my plants, cooking 떡볶이 (tteokbokki - spicy rice stew), reading, and figuring out a new origami creation. I discovered a surprise in my bonsai tree last week: one of the tamarind seeds I placed on top of the soil - to maintain moisture in place of pebbles- had sprouted! Supposedly, sprouting the seeds of tamarind is difficult and required the seed to be heated or boiled... which makes no sense since they grow in the Caribbean like weeds... maybe that applies to growing outside a natural environments. Anyhoo, this one sprouted, and now I am growing Tamarind! Life is good!
New Heart Space. I'm grateful to be in a new head space and a new heart space, where there is desire without a attachment; appreciation without request. (A little fun with obliquity!)
I'm grateful for Korean food stores, wonderful kids, their parents, and co-workers, a warm bed, and new friends. I'm grateful for being grateful! |
